UB Forward 2026
Our Platform
Fourteen specific proposals, each one tied to something students have actually asked for.
Students deserve to know what they're voting for. Fourteen specific proposals, each one tied to something students have actually asked for.
24-Hour Dining
Students who study late or work nights shouldn't go hungry. We'll work with Campus Dining to pilot at least one 24-hour option.
Bring Back Student-Run Spaces
The current booking system is inequitable in practice. Groups with different needs deserve more than a one-size-fits-all policy, and we're pushing for student-run space back.
Protect Student Protesters and Free Speech
UB's current rules leave gray areas around assembly that put students at risk. We'll push for clear, enforceable protections on our campus.
Overhaul SA Finance Policy
The tier system creates arbitrary barriers. We'll replace it with a service-based model that funds clubs based on what they actually provide to students, not how much of last year's budget got spent.
Meal Swipes in Commons and Healthier Options
Meal swipes should work at Commons. Students deserve food that isn't just fast and cheap. We'll push for expanded access and better options.
Merge Club Coordinators into Club Services
Responsibilities are split in ways that confuse clubs and slow things down. One office, one point of contact, less runaround.
Promote Environmental Sustainability
Expanded recycling, fewer single-use plastics in dining, and real student involvement in UB's sustainability planning.
Students in Faculty Governance
Students deserve seats where academic and most University policies get made. We'll push for representation on the Faculty Senate and its committees.
Work with Administration on Food, Health Services, and Parking
Our experience with UB's administration has been mostly positive - they're good people. The focus is on policies that need improvement and students' right to be involved. We'll push for regular working meetings between SA's leadership & Advocacy Department and the administration, with results reported on in SA Senate meetings.
Course Review and Instructor Assessment
Faculty shape the student experience more than almost anyone on campus. We'll push for student involvement in course review and instructor assessment.
Bigger and Better Events
Headline acts that put UB on the map, better-supported club programming, and smarter spending. Larger events cost less per student, meaning more money back in clubs' pockets.
Liberalize Purchase Requests
Current rules force clubs into expensive vendors and catering services when better options exist. We'll give clubs more flexibility to choose cost-effective suppliers without sacrificing accountability.
Fix Room Reservations
Booking space is needlessly frustrating. Simpler process, expanded hours, more reservable spaces.
Transparent Hiring and Clear Roles in Club Services and Advocacy
Clear job descriptions, defined responsibilities, and a public hiring process with a publicly available rubric. Appointments should be earned and acted on through clear, student-focused policies and procedures.
